We are dedicated to the Ministry of the Written Word
The Church Periodical Club is an independent, affiliated organization of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church, dedicated to the worldwide Ministry of the Written Word and to the Promotion of Christian Mission.

It is the only organization in the Episcopal Church dedicated solely to providing free literature and related materials, both religious and secular, through grants to people all over the world who need and request them and who have no other source for obtaining them. Prayer books, books for seminarians, educational materials, medical textbooks, agricultural manuals and books for those in local and global mission are some of the publications The Church Periodical Club supplies.

It is our goal to have an active and enthusiastic CPC representative in every parish and diocese.

If you are interested in supporting The Church Periodical Club through a contribution, volunteering as a parish representative or you would like more information about CPC, please contact Maryfran with the form on this page.

   Church Periodical Club News

This has been a year of growth and updating CPC in the midst of a pandemic.

Our first virtual Triennial and granting session was held virtually June 11 and 12, 2021 with an additional communication seminar held one week later. Our attendance was 62 from various portions of The Episcopal Church (TEC). The diocese of Chicago ECW graciously fully funded the grant from Tanzania for prison ministry of 485 Swahili bibles for prisoners. This was done in honor and as a memorial to Leigh Sills who had a passion for the work of prison ministry.

Granting session was held for adult requests a thank you to all who donated. Our requests exceeded our funds so some grants were only partially funded. A grant was given to Province V to provide written materials for leadership coaching.

The part-time position of administrator has been eliminated and various members taking on those tasks. We also have a historian and parliamentarian as well. Pam Stewart served CPC for many years as our administrator and we thank her for her years of service.

An updated and new website has been created and like everything in today’s world is being constantly updated. Please check it out at https://churchperiodical.com  - note new title.

New by laws have been written and are in process of being ratified.

Our ministry is strengthening!

Grants are due for adults grants now and the form is available on the website. Called NBF (National Book Fund),  this grant can be used for companion dioceses as well.

The Miles of Pennies Grants are available throughout the year.  Details can be found on the website.

Ministry of the Written Word

Here's how you can help

Have you read a book, a newspaper, a Bible, a prayer book,   a magazine, a bill? Have you used a Kindle, CD, or DVD?   Do you look up things on your computer or ask Google a question?

How fortunate you are, as many have limited or no access to these written words.

How about providing Bibles to Bible students? What about providing books for children coming to a food pantry? Children coming to a Peace Camp? Prayer books for campus ministry? Recovery (addiction help) for those in prison? The list continues.
