Love is Contagious!

The Back Door Ministry, connected with Christ Church in Rolla, Missouri and its ECW members, is showing the community that there is also a spreading of love during the current COVID-19 pandemic. When social distancing mandates went into effect, the parish was unable to offer a sit-down Sunday meal via their existing Open Door ministry. How could Christ Church members continue to offer conversation and a kind  face to those facing homelessness and food insecurity homelessness to the community as they previously had before?

Mask Makers

When shortages of PPE were reported throughout the nation as the pandemic took hold in mid-March, the women of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Eureka, Missouri mobilized to offer their services to St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield. The volunteer coordinator at St. Luke’s asked if they could make cloth masks for the support staff giving the quantity thought to be needed in the near future. Overwhelmed with the number given them, Donna Bernert, a member of St. Francis contacted the Diocese of Missouri ECW Board, asking if they could mobilize volunteers across the diocese to sew cloth masks.

 On June 10, 2020, the Missouri Diocese ECW Board hosted their first connection event. This was a time for women to gather virtually to listen, learn, and discuss some of the bizarre moments in adjusting to the new normal we have been experiencing these last few months.
